The President can promulgate an Ordinance when Parliament is not in session and circumstances make it necessary to take immediate action.
An Ordinance must be laid before Parliament when it reassembles. It becomes inoperative six weeks after the reassembly of Parliament, unless it is approved by Parliament before that period.
